Do I fully comprehend what I have watched? Definitely not.

Did I enjoy every minute of it? Definitely yes.

There are 100 ways to interpret “Persona” and I could probably watch it a dozen times and still discover something new or think about new interpretations. The film is only 85 minutes long and explores countless fascinating themes, nonetheless, for example duality, identity, self, freedom, sexuality, gender, feminism, motherhood, social masks, isolation, human connection, psychology, insanity, art, cinema, acting, emotions, truth, reality, introspection, happiness, the meaning of life, and many more.

“Persona” is surreal, hypnotizing, and captivating. It has a brilliant script, a fantastic atmosphere, outstanding performances, and a mind-blowing visual style. Cinematography, blocking, shots, and the use of light and shadows are all extremely beautiful, unique, and memorable. You can see how this film influenced many filmmakers, for example David Lynch, Robert Altman, David Fincher, and Darren Aronofsky.

“Persona” is intellectually stimulating, aesthetically pleasing, and totally mesmerizing. It shows the potential of the medium and every cinephile should see it, preferably more than once. You will not forget this film.
