Stop Making Sense

Stop Making Sense ★★★★½

I think this is the first concert film I have seen, so I don´t have anything to compare it to, but I wouldn´t be surprised, if “Stop Making Sense” was a highlight of its genre. It´s just exhilarating from beginning to end. The stage show is incredibly well-constructed and choreographed as well as masterfully filmed and edited, the songs rock, and David Byrne´s stage presence is simply out of this world. Watching talented people do what they love is always a joy, and Byrne just oozes passion, fun, and lust for life. The rest of the band is great, as well, but he clearly is the center of attention (duh, he is the lead singer). The big suit performance is rightfully iconic. The whole film has an electrifying, euphoric, and life-affirming energy that will almost certainly cheer you up. And that it was made by the director of “The Silence of the Lambs” also puts a smile on my face, for some reason.
