Scream VI 2023
um… sure! not even sure what this franchise has twisted itself into anymore, but i’ll take it. still doesn’t know how to take risks, but the characters grew on me a little and my god the kills! borrows a lot (and i mean a lot) from scream 2, but the style/lensing keep those aspects fresh. still don’t think these movies would sit right with craven, but this is nice.

Scream 2022
hmmm worth watching for the kills alone! love watching these movies gradually evolve into this disgusting torture porn sicko shit as hollywood’s tolerance for it grows. could go for the low hanging fruit here and just complain about how undeveloped the characters are and how annoying the jokes about requels are, but i’m more disappointed in this movie’s perception of wes craven’s sequels and how it chooses to continue their legacy. matt and tyler don’t seem interested in elaborating on…

Scream 2 1997
clinging to an 8. craven gives so many sets and props life here. the cop car scene is the most exhilarating thing from these movies so far, and the climax >>>> so good. i can’t help being a theatre kid, i can only be ashamed. doesn’t quite match up to the style of its predecessor, nor does it really aim for a different, more refreshing style, but idk it still really worked for me.
now if you excuse me, i have some oozing to do.

My Neighbor Totoro 1988
i think my theater made a mistake. they forgot to double feature it with grave of the fireflies like miyazaki intended. what a shame.
