American Honey is a deconstruction of the American Dream, showcasing the ugly nature of our society that's often overlooked in favor of our more attractive features. Chaotic in its' approach, many scenes in this film sparked my anxiety. Surely that was Arnold's intention, to make the audience feel as uncomfortable as Star does. American Honey requires some patience, clocking in at just under three hours. There was nothing I found unnecessary, but I don't think the film would have suffered much if it was a tad bit shorter. Great cinematography though.
