The writing in this movie is just brilliant. What a treat it was the get inside the head of Toller as he struggles to reconcile a pastor’s hopeful musings with the dread of a man engulfed by the Darkness, ultimately succumbing to the latter. “Doing nothing is not bad. Ipso facto.” I enjoyed the existential themes in this movie, but quite frankly I thought it was pretty boring. Although the ending was a perfect example of synthesis between plot and theme, I didn’t like how long it took to get there.
