    The Stepford Wives

This film was referenced in the textbook I had to read for my human bodies and society class - so ignoring my looming assessment to watch this instead is technically still productive uni work… right?

    Dykes, Camera, Action!

    ★★★★½

i really resonated with a lot of Dykes, Camera, Action! - discovering lesbian cinema played suchhhhh an important role in me coming to terms with my sexuality and this film's exploration of its history was endlessly fascinating. the conversations these women were having about the importance of seeing our stories represented onscreen left me feeling so excited about what's to come (Desiree i'm looking at you, more pleasseeee).

also, watching this in a room packed with old lesbian couples has…

    Paris, Je T'Aime

    ★★★½

a real mixed bag, but my girlfriend just moved to france for six months and I Miss Her to death so you can probably imagine how much of a wreck this film - a collection of love stories set in paris - just made me :'(

(is this entire review just a thinly veiled humblebrag about the fact that i have a girlfriend? maybe so)

  • Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

this was horrific, but also just... incomprehensible? like, i expected it to be pretty bad, but neither my girlfriend or i had the slightest clue what was going on for a solid 90% of it. we left the theatre and turned to each other hoping to find some clarity in our discussion, but all we could conjure up was an extensive, anger-filled list of reasons why this completely sucks ass

you only really get the full A Star Is Born (2018) experience if you sing away your tears by blasting lady gaga songs in the car home from the theatre
