I went into this remake with an open mind. I got to say -- I like this version of Suspiria a lot. Director Luca Guadagnino really knocked it out of the park. The tone is way more distinctive than I thought it would be. Even though this is a remake, the style of it is feels both traditionally obsolete and creatively original. There are excellent performances from both Dakota Johnson (in her role as Susie Bannion) and Tilda Swinton (in her roles as Madame Blanc, Helena Markos, and Dr. Klemperer). They fit in this world perfectly. And Thom Yorke's score is really good. However, it is slow as hell. I like a film that is a slow-burner but 30-40 minutes could've been shaved off. Despite its shortcomings, Suspiria (2018) might not be as great as the original Suspiria but it is a good movie. I can definitely see it is not going to be everyone but I liked it a lot.
