“I truly believe that this film wouldn’t be what it is had we not shot it on film, and I'm not speaking just about the visual aesthetic either… it created a heightened sense of focus and discipline on the day… but it was so much fun because it felt like a live theatre performance.”

Director Anthony Shim (Daughter) discusses the making of his #TIFF22 Platform Prize–winning film, Riceboy Sleeps, including finding inspiration in the limitations of using 16mm film and stepping in front of the camera himself in the film.
