There is a certain charm to the cheesy B-movie plot and edit of Spawn and how it perfectly encapsulates the 90s emotional cocktail of brooding angst, irony and sarcasm.

Some surprisingly good practical effects (the Spawn suit, clown suit) and performances (Michael Jai White, John Leguizamo) cannot salvage the film, when the CGI here is tolerable for the time period (Spawn cape) at best and walk-out-of-the-theater-bad (hell scenes) at worst.
