Black Swan ★★★★½

I did not expect this psychological thriller to be this scary. How so?

- The film centralising the theme of; the harshest critique often being your own, almost pathological need to excel in your craft (I felt this too much, and was literally shaking with fear)

- Those moving paintings, figures running around the studio, that goddamn red eyes staring straight into the camera and the stabbing that didn’t seem to stop was literally fucking scary!

Aronofsky’s direction to convey the message was clear and to the point; for you can be as good as you think, but always easily replaceable. Those unsteady shots of scenes gave a feel of tumult and chaos of the mind, translating into reality. And Natalie Portman? She was perfect.
