Better than I expected and I didn't expect a lot. The trailer seemed lame, somehow they made the humor seem campy and contrived in it, but it was far more natural in the film. They did a decent job of developing a new story and characters. Also, I soft spot for Will Smith - I love him.
The villains were over dramatic and I feel they went a little overboard with the technology and artillery (but I suppose it would have been pretty boring without that stuff). Per usual with films like this, characters do mountains of stupid, unexplained things just to suit the plot because no one on the writing team could come up with a reasonable way to do so. And, of course, the moments of reflection, communication, and/or resolution are always happening in the most dangerous and dire times...
Again, I didn't expect a lot, but, it was better than MIB: International (disaster) and Hobbs and Shaw (laughable).
