Burning ★★★★½

Lee Chang-Dong's delectably paced psychological thriller is pure lyricism in motion. Teetering on the edge of unspoken horrors, the narrative masterfully explores disturbed psyches, even as it never shows them play out their dark urges, until the blazing end. The plot swells and sputters in a restrained, albeit rhythmic flow, like Hae-Mi floating through a reverie in the country haze.
One of the most beautifully captured films, and a poetically told story of horrifying pathology.
