I wasn’t a big fan of Homecoming so the fact that I enjoyed this so much is surprising.
I found Homecoming to be a bad teen movie with Spiderman in it where as I found Far From Home to be a great teen movie with Spiderman in it. I was more interested in Peter Parker in this than I was Spiderman. I spent the entire time rooting for Peter to get with MJ rather than rooting for Spiderman to beat the villain.
Speaking of the villain I found him to be rather weak, especially compared to Michael Keaton. I can’t really say more because of spoilers.
Another problem I had was the dialogue I cringed hard at a few lines particularly from the teenage cast and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Despite this I found the cast mostly great; Tom Holland was great and is slowly becoming my favourite spiderman. I also really liked Zendaya. Although some of the less important cast are pretty weak and Jake Gyllenhaal was only fine imo.
The humour worked for me far more than in Homecoming; I found myself laughing way more than I expected. Both teachers were hilarious and the running gag of Ned and his girlfriend was strangely funny. Definitely stay for the post credit scenes because they are some of the best of the franchise.
This film has taught me one thing and that is that I’m a big Zendaya fan😁
