Was bound to be derivative considering how many films prior have tackled the same premise, but just the right amount of originality gives it enough to remain charming. Helps that the two leads are both very likeable and have great chemistry

    The Other Guys

This film is genuinely and completely unironcially hilarious and Will Ferrell is the funniest he’s ever been

American comedies so rarely actually make me laugh but this one does it constantly

Lin Manuel Miranda has a surprisingly good hold on directing which he shows with some really well done scenes. Namely the brilliantly directed scene with the juxtaposition  between the shots of Susan and Jon fighting and the bubbly song performed by Karessa and Jon.

It was a love letter that balanced reality and fiction, for the most part, very well and it was aided infinitely by Garfield’s exuberant performance which is more than worthy of all the praise it’s been getting

The undeniable chemistry can unfortunately not make up for Billy Crystal taking the award for “least convincing 20 year old university student of all time” which he won at the age of 41

Honestly don’t understand the hate for this, yes it’s predictable like every other marvel film ever. But it’s got some decent heart, looks amazing and takes some actual risks and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Cast worked well, the action was inventive and fun and overall was probably better than half the other mcu films

Denis Villeneuve's grasp on filmmaking never ceases to amaze me. Here he creates an absolute epic of a movie and he handled it masterfully.

The performances, while none of them jaw-dropping, work perfectly within the film (especially Rebecca Ferguson's). The cinematography is absolutely stunning, from the confides of the cramped walls, to the massive scope of the outside, it all looks beautiful. But what stood out the most to me, as it often does with Hans Zimmer, was the pitch perfect score.

I really, really cannot wait to see where this franchise goes.
