Tom Rice’s review published on Letterboxd:
Woah. As much as I loved Hereditary I was still apprehensive to check out Midsommar. The trailers didn’t really excite me much and I kind of expected a typical cult horror movie. But boy was I wrong. This is soooo messed up and disturbing with some of my favourite performances of the year, in particular from Florence Pugh who delivers a phenomenal performance. The attention to detail in all of the scenery and rituals is really remarkable as well. Aster clearly done his homework and it pays off hugely. Without a doubt the most visually arresting movie of the year and arguably in contention for my outright favourite film so far.
