i wasn't really sure what to think of this when i started it, but by the end i was really enjoying it. sure, it's not the most, like, profound movie in the world -- as many people have pointed out, it doesn't necessarily say anything that hasn't already been said -- but i found it to be an extremely compelling movie nonetheless. george mackay is brilliant as always and i wish filmmakers in the us would realize that he's what we need in movies!
side note: this movie is the kinkiest movie i've ever seen, holy shit. it's up there on batman returns levels of horny.
solid thriller with great performances that's ultimately let down by its ending (also the implication that the uk is what defeated nazi germany and not the incredible sacrifices from the ussr, lol). this movie would be a lot better if the straight execs would have stopped being cowardly and made hugh and paul lovers i s2g! the tragedy of it all! the chemistry between george and jannis! sigh
