    Coming 2 America

I’d naively hoped “Coming 2 America” would hit the heights of “Coming to America” or “Dolemite Is My Name,” and it fails on both accounts. In spite of this, it’s an entertaining-enough sequel that’s better than the likes of “Teen Wolf Too,” “Caddyshack II,” “Weekend at Bernie’s II,” “Beverly Hills Cop III,” “Blues Brothers 2000,” “Son of the Mask” or any comedy Eddie Murphy’s appeared in over the last 20 years or so.

    Boss Level

“Boss Level” should appeal to fans of Joe Carnahan’s, Frank Grillo’s, time loop tales, video games and cool tunes (there are expert needle drops from Boston, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Roy Orbison, Badfinger and Black Flag as well as “South American Getaway” from “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”). It’s simply a fun fucking flick. Besides, it’s not every day that audiences can watch a movie where its protagonist gets decapitated a dozen times.

Watching Scorsese fangurl over Spielberg is pretty much the most adorable thing ever.

    The Guest

This movie is fucking rad. The description of it being a combination of Halloween and The Terminator is apropos - throw in a dash of John Hughes' oeuvre, The Bourne Identity and Drive and you really get the idea. Dan Stevens is awesome in the titular role - he looks a bit like a young Michael Biehn and kills like Schwarzenegger. Director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett improve upon the already impressive game they displayed in You're Next. The Guest is a badass genre exercise with style to burn.
