*NOTE “foreign film” is, like everything, a dumb made up concept. it’s a concept that has A LOT to do with race/economics and imo isn’t just a matter of ‘X film has British director so it’s foreign’ ‘Y film has American producers so it’s American’ the purpose of this list, for me, is to expand my horizons. so like putting a film like ‘Dunkirk’ as a foreign film isn’t something I want to do because while it does have a British director and cast and producers it is also an American blockbuster, it’s not a film Trump would complain about winning Best Picture while ‘Parasite’ is,…

hopefully this makes sense and clarifies how I classify certain films on here. I really appreciate being able to have these conversations here and again want to say thank you to everyone that’s contributed to this list :-)
ALSO I love how collaborative this list is and am trying to get on top of suggestions so please continue to suggest film pairings (especially any African, Middle Eastern or South American cinema!)
