Fun to see the seeds of what was to come later from Clooney and Soderbergh. Though it shares the same breeziness as the oceans saga, this film sets itself apart with bits of shocking violence, slightly more overt sexiness, and a truly soulful JLo performance that humanizes the movie and provides a nice foil to Clooney’s roguishness. And quite a parade of “they’re in this movie?”s
I would not complain if Netflix never made a show longer than this. I don’t feel amazing after mainlining the whole thing in two evenings but at least I only needed two evenings. It also helps that it’s almost constantly stylish, intense, and good. Somehow hits all the standard beats but never quite feels predictable. Almost like... a chess match?
