Frances Ha

Frances Ha ★★★★½

You ever find those movies that you immediately connect with and you can't shake that feeling? That's what happened here. This film is like the equivalent of a warm hug that's always there - heartwarming, cute, optimistic, but also unbelievably real at times. It's all so dreamlike, but even so, it knows how to pack an emotional punch. The ending leaves you complete, while still feeling that sense of groundedness that was present throughout the whole thing. I found myself relating to both Frances and Benji a lot throughout this, and I can't deny the goofy smile I had on my face for most of the time. I knew once this movie spent most of its time in NYC that it had won me over. Not to mention that the B&W cinematography is absolutely gorgeous and the soundtrack is awesome. What else can I say? This is a beautiful, magical film that I can't wait to revisit. And I couldn't ask for anything more.
