I LOVE PURE JOY AND HAPPINESS AHHHHH
A much better film than its predecessor that knows EXACTLY what its audience wants (besides the lack of Meryl Streep for most of the film). The prequel parts are quirky and cute, and the sequel parts are endearing and sweet. All of the returning cast members have their moments to shine here, and new members - such as Lily James, Cher, and all of Young Donna's suitors - are fun and welcome additions to the party. Though the music doesn't quite pack the same punch, the filmmakers picked a good mix of ABBA's hits plus returning songs from the first film. Ironically enough, I got more emotional with this one, as Donna had been killed off off-screen - and as I said my previous review, I associate a lot of Donna's character with my late aunt. I feel like I did her proud by going to see this today. Even with the 10 year gap, it feels like the island of Kalokairi and its inhabitants are more alive and vibrant than ever.
