The Death & Life of John F. Donovan

The Death & Life of John F. Donovan ★★½

I really wanted to like it. I truly did. In theory, a story like this, with a star-studded cast to boot, should work. And after a masterful first act, I thought things were going well. But unfortunately, the last two parts of this thing slogs along. Boring narration, conventional plotting, and not enough characterization to care for any of our main players, as well as a poorly miscast Kit Harington. It's a real shame, because I usually enjoy Dolan's work - this just felt so mediocre. Maybe a rewrite could have solved things.
