Finally caught up with this classic flick. 

Great cast, but the fervent back and forth between the storytelling and the prison life reality kept taking me out of both worlds, complete opposite of being captivated as most reviewers evidently experienced it. Probably just not “getting “ the dramatic nuances of this film…for me first 100min insufferably dull and sluggish. Once the plot twist kicks in 

Note: Hurt fantastically playing a flamboyant gay dude amazing and amusing.
