A difficult topic, so not wanting to comment overly much...

Other than...extraordinary performance by Jenna Ortega! Seriously commendable stuff, one to watch in the years to come.

Beyond exceptional, Kristine Kujath Thorp plays the reluctant and messed-up-life-is-all-a-party Rakel, who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant. She portrayal is excellent to watch - superbly natural, fun, quirky, almost as if the part is her own life.

Credit to the full team, who devise a quirky yet serious drama with lots of laughs wrapped in realism. A killer little drama/comedy.

My most sincere apologies, but how has it taken me so long to realise that Norwegian films are soooo good? First "Worst Person" and now this?

One of my most anticipated films for 2021, and perhaps why ultimately I suffered from the ‘expectations vs reality’ no-go rules of cinema. Bergman Island is a superbly crafted piece of self-reflection, played out triple-layered and within itself – yet, as wonderful and satisfying as that is (the ending will get ya right in the gut!) I found the pacing difficult to engage with, at least for the firs 30-40 or…

A lot has already been said about “Turning Red” and overall, the vibe is relatively positive. Certainly a triumph for Domee Shi, as her inaugural feature length work – and if this is an indication of what’s to come, then sign me up!

Generally, the piece is a great addition to the Pixar collection, yet one that failed to grab me the same way “Toy Story” and more contemporaries such as…

A truly excellent documentary, and my pick for the Academy Award (disclaimer: without having yet seen "Flee").

Get around this piece, it's essential watching.

I’m rather late to the party on this one – but in my attempt to catch up before either getting unnecessarily outraged, or nodding my head in wanna-be-approval for the oscars…here we are!

“Nightmare Alley” is a film that features lots of excellent people (Cate Blanchett, Willem Dafoe, Rooney Mara), tells a pretty cool story, has some really great camera work and design, but ultimately falls flat due to pacing, plotting…

Jessica Chastain really showing off her chops in this one! A real hoot of a movie, but one so devoid of substance, it trickles on by until you realise that it’s finished.

What I am sure will become a study piece for film major's and composition students everywhere, Johnny Greenwood has provided easily one of the greatest music soundtracks for a film in cinema history. Exceptional use of avant garde small group in contrast to the more 'traditional' (yet still twisted!) string quarter and piano - the work is the utter life of this entire film. Truly remarkable .

Kristen Stewart is also in this Johnny Greenwood film and does a very good job. Le fin...

As much as I adore Nicole Kidman and fanboy over Javier Bardem, as well as take great pleasure from much of Aaron Sorkin's movie (writing) career - 'Being the Ricardos' was one of the most boring boring films I have seen in a good long while. Holy moly, thank god it's over...
