Heathers is a goddamn masterpiece.
Brilliant satire on some dark subjects like suicide, homicide, how people percieve you after death, etc. Really funny too.
The central performances are so great. I would never want a kid like Christian Slater's character walking around my high school.
A rewatch has shown me that this is the greatest high school movie of all time, sorry Not Another Teen Movie.
The whole thing is a big "screw you" to John Hughes movies and I love it.
Dark comedy was the perfect thing to bring the high school genre to its peak. The class structuring actually works here, unless The Breakfast Club, because they make fun of it to all hell and don't pretend that stuff like that actually happens.
