there’s a weird amount of bruce springsteen music in this for a film taking place in the mid 60s

imagine how powerful this would be if it were a good 45 minutes shorter

i never understood why they explain the alien stuff to civillians just to wipe their minds, like wouldn’t it be easier to say it was a raccoon or whatever in the first place? can’t imagine the neuralizers have a small carbon footprint

    ★★★½

i don’t know... it’s whatever? the third one is so final and a great finale that everything here kinda felt inconsequential except the terrific ending. idk man the way that everything happened was not the most engaging for me, definitely better than a lot of these pixar sequel nostagia baiting recently... but no short :(

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

what is with this franchise and killing off iconic characters by having them get stabbed with spare sharp wood that just happens to be laying around

    The Dead Don't Die

almost nothing in this movie has any shred of purpose which makes it very different than previous jarmusch stuff. it’s still just as funny and charmingly slow as almost all his other movies and i really enjoyed that, i’m just... not sure how i feel about the last 10 minutes? it culminates to so much and absolutely nothing at the same time. idk i gotta see it again. mostly positive reaction though, jim jarmusch is the bible

randall park’s band in this is so bad and everyone just keeps insisting they’re amazing it’s a problem. i kept expecting a joke to be made about how bad they are but,, there isn’t, they’re great apparently

maybe it’s because i’ve never been that into elton john or that i’ve seen walk hard too many times, but i really wish i got more out of this than i did. don’t get me wrong though — i liked it and really appreciated that it took a more musical route than most in its genre. people are going to loooove this movie, and i won’t be mad at the film or them or the filmmakers for it, unlike a certain other musical biopic that features john reid

this was one of the most wholly unique experiences of my entire cinematic life. it’s simultaneously so fucking self aware but also not at all. i’ve been meaning to make the move off of star ratings for a while, but this solidified it for me, at least at this very moment. you can’t assign art a number.
