Once upon a Tom in Hollywood’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is the Great Hunger dance. The dance which seeks the meaning of life.
This film is such a slow burn (no pun intended), and, having come in knowing nothing about where all this was headed, I didn't think I was going to end up liking this about halfway through. But boy oh boy, was I wrong!
Not only do I now not mind the 2.5 hour running time, I actually think I want to watch it again. The story just works incredibly well, leaving the viewer with exactly the same questions and trepidations as the characters. I don't really want to give anything away, because I honestly think the less you know, the more powerfully the ending will hit you. Recommended!
