This movie is really weirdly structured. Instead of three acts, it has two halves, one where father and daughter are on the run, and a second where they're in captivity. In the first half, we see flashbacks to before their life was upended by government agents, and I wonder if that wouldn't have just worked better as a first act, and then lead into them being on the run. BEAUTIFUL cinematography but mostly dry and dull. Very much feels like a debut, but still interesting Cronenberg already knew what themes he wanted to explore from here on out. Really only for completists. Reminds me a lot of Jarmusch's debut "Permanent Vacation," though I would much rather watch this again than that if forced to watch one.

I believe this was the second Bond movie I saw, back in 2008. It was either this or Goldeneye. And while I loved Dr. No back then, I wasn't as into this one. Some have remarked that they can't see what kids would like about these early movies, and while I did like many of them, this was one that put me to sleep as a kid.
