So begins Christopher Nolan's career-long obsession with sneaking as much exposition into a thriller as possible. This film is impressive though for the microbudget! First thing I'd put more money towards wouldn't be better actors (you'd get as stiff of performances but just pay people more for them), instead any spare budget would go straight towards lighting. Get some crisper shadows in here and you're suddenly on your way to a Pickpocket with neo-noir influences and muddled pacing.
