Sober, straight forward, workmanlike WWI anti-war film. What else to expect from the Germans? It’s also expertly crafted, a lot borrowed from Kubrick, the characters are fairly fleshed out and the music is pretty haunting. Maybe I get a sense of I’ve seen this before? Do we really need it? Four stars for being a good film though.
