Quite possibly the greatest looking movie ever made, the way it moves, the way the colours contrast, the way every single image looks like a painting. It's also probably my favourite take on Shakespeare. It's faithful to the source material, yet it goes deeper emotionally and subverts it in such unique and interesting ways. My favourite scene by far is the battle that takes place towards the middle of the film, between the mesmerizing visuals, the ominous musical score, intercut with the clouds slowly blocking out the sun, representing us moving further and further away from God, and Hidetora's reflection on everything, it's flawless, flawless storytelling.
