    A twisty little erotic thriller that does a nice job of keeping things simmering despite the languid pace. It does such a nice job, in fact, that I missed the oddly lazy tension when director Fracois Ozon does finally let the pot boil over in the last 20 minutes or so. It's the rare case of a movie that might have benefited from padding that runtime a little to let things unspool a little more organically.

    Still, sharply calibrated performances…

    It’s Baz, baby! and i mean it when i say that if anyone could get that old music biopic engine to purr again, it’s baz. ten edits when one will suffice? check. using a crane to get the shot on a simple conversation between two guys? check. doja cat needle drop on 1950s beale street? check friggin plus. you don’t have to like it. but it’s baz! what’d you expect?
