Ready or Not

Ready or Not ★★★★

You think your family is weird? At least my in-laws isn’t trying to kill me yet!

Ready or Not is about a newlywed woman named Grace, played by Samara Weaving, as her wedding night takes a dark and sinister turn, when her in-laws are hunting her in a bloody and twisted game of hide and seek. Why are they hunting her? Because she’s going to be part of a horrifying ritual!

When I heard this movie was coming out, I read the plot of it and heard only a few actors in it. But no known directors making it. And I got sucked into watching the trailer. But nothing but a few things were spoiled by it. When I heard Fox Searchlight was releasing the movie, I thought it was rare of them distributing a horror and dark comedic movie. But it is a great production company who is the opposite of 20th Century Fox, but they do some really good movies. And this was one of them!

When my fiancé and I watched it last night, we thought it was good! I thought some of it was funny, dark, disturbing, fun, and thrilling! Something about Ready or Not reminded me of Game Night and Get Out. Maybe it’s satire or dark comedy on upper class people or rich people, or people who will do anything just to be with a wealthy rich family. Now I’m not going to spoil anything else in it if there’s some that want to see it. But this is definitely a film for people who are getting married, including me!

The acting from the cast was great, the directing was unique, and the dark humor and pacing was pretty close to what the trailer delivered. But I have some issues with Ready or Not. Is it predictable? Yes. Is it cheesy? Yes. Is it cliche? Yes it is. But it never let me down while I was watching the movie. So me and my fiancé liked it! So if you want a good time to watch a disturbingly horror comedy, then by all means, check this one out!

I’m giving Ready or Not 4 stars!
