in my eyes Carax is one of the world’s greatest living directors. not everybody vibes with his stuff but anyone who takes a look at his track record and calls it anything but one of the most staggeringly original runs a director has ever had is fucking lying to themselves. dude always knocks it out of the park. insane how committed everyone else is here though, there’s like so many levels to each performance and it’s just goddamn gorgeous and moving. great stuff
