Owen’s review published on Letterboxd:
Robert Zemeckis, you've done it again! You've delivered another self-congratulatory snoozefest that feels fully-cooked technically (yet clearly over-reliant on mid-tier visual effects) but half-baked narratively. The only thing worth congratulating in this movie is Jahzir Bruno, who gives a terrific performance in his first role and will certainly go on to do great things. Personally, I think it's time we leave Roald Dahl adaptations in the past, considering the best ones have already been made.
