This understated thing reminded me of Gus Van Sant, and a bit of Xavier Dolan. Impressive audiovisuals, especially for a debut. The little dialogue was the cherry on top. Two scenes transported me back to my teens; however, the overall experience wasn't very impactful for me.
I don't like a lot of Pablo Larraín's stuff, so I went into this not expecting much. I was blown away. I loved the different layers of anxiety, the surrealism, and the delicateness of it all. Everything was suffocating and beautiful. The visual language reminded me of my favorite films. This is definitely Larraín's best.
