Even though I think Eternal is a lower tier Marvel, I don't think it fully deserves the extremely negative buzz it's been getting. It's a flawed movie, but there are things to like here - mostly visual stuff.
Some of the action scenes are quite good, but then there are long stretches of the movie which feel a bit slow and ponderous. The guy sitting behind me was snoring quite loudly at one point.
None of the characters are particularly distinctive and a 2h 37m movie doesn’t give you enough time to really get to know these characters. Perhaps this would have been better suited as a Disney+ series?
Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland was a slowly paced and gorgeous movie, so I wonder if perhaps her sensibilities as a film maker aren’t suited to the Marvel brand?
