Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi ★★★★½

"Amazing. Every word of what you just said was wrong."

Better on film. Better on the Dome screen. Better in IMAX. It's a shame that Johnson and crew decided not to open the Crait sequence's aspect ratio to the full IMAX 1.43:1 (or at all), because that IMAX footage would be spectacular.

The Last Jedi works well in the Dome format because so much of the film is landscape medium shots or facial close-ups. IMAX Dome was a better fit here than it was for Rogue One, and I don't understand the hate for the format. It's uniquely immersive.

Film screened in IMAX Dome 15/70mm film projection at the Spacedome IMAX Theater, U.S. Space and Rocket Center, in Huntsville, Alabama, on Sunday, December 17th, 2017 at 1:00pm. Seen with my father.
