Skyfall

Skyfall ★★★★½

Skyfall

Almost ignoring the past two films, Skyfall felt like a regime change. The biggest difference - and asset - to this Bond was Roger Deakins, who shaves off the rough edges of the last two films to completely immerse you in this brightly lit, gorgeous seedy world Bond inhabits. Mendes is the best director to ever helm Bond thus far. He understood the assignment and injects everything a fan of Bond looks for. The action, the tone, atmosphere, villain, Bond's attitude, lines, delivery, gadgets. It's all in here. Easily one of the greatest action films of all time to boot. Lightning captured twice in a bottle is hard enough, and even though Quantum of Solace threatens to dampen the continuity in terms of quality, Casino Royale and Skyfall managed to make Bond one of the baddest and slickest motherfuckers to hit the silver screen.
