The Devil All the Time

The Devil All the Time ★★★★

I'd be an absolute hack if I said I was not hanging on to each minute of this film as I would be off the side of a cliff. A harrowing experience doesn't begin to fully explain how miserable these characters are, and the amount of misery these characters bring upon the people they love, but a steadfast pace makes the film feel grounded, even while nearing 140 minutes. I found the intertwining stories perfectly spaced out, slowly reminding us of certain characters we became intrigued with prior, and never compromising performances no matter how small the role was.

All in All, The Devil All the Time makes great use of tension and dreadful atmosphere and a career best for Tom Holland. In fact, Tom Holland is so damn good in this film that another Spider-Man flick should just be put on hold indefinitely. Give us more articulated, thought-provoking, engrossing character performances. Almost definitely one of the best films of the year, and a film I'll be sitting down and showing my mom soon.
