An allegory about remembering your true self in an effed up world? A story about how children will heal the junky planet they inherited from generations of careless adults? Perhaps a metaphor regarding the rules, dirt, and arbitrary nature of the entertainment industry?

    Who can say?

The real question is, where can I get that legit pantaloon uniform that Haku wears?

Shirley and Cyril are the most authentic on-screen couple I've ever seen and visually represent what would happen if Olive Oyl and Popeye became anti-Thatcher Marxists.

First of all, the main character in this film likes the same picante sauce that I do (El Yucateco green salsa picante), and carries it around with him in his pocket wherever he goes.

    It's the lil things, amirite?

Definitely watch this beautiful film (and John Cassavetes Award winner) if you love BREAKING AWAY/cycling, working class people, immigrants' rights, and the value of human dignity as told through the allegory of one day off per week to play fútbol.

The face of Adriano Tardiolo holy shit. It's pure love and makes me want to move to Italy just so I might one day glimpse him in person and touch the hem of his garment.

Which leads me to say that Alice Rohrwacher did a heaven-blessed job of capturing fully realized performances from her cast, plus crystalizing the imposing grit of both rural and urban life in Italy.

    Immaculate Immaculate Immaculate, y'all.
