Escape from L.A. 1996
deeply disappointed that they put all that money & effort into Campbell's plastic surgery cult just to spend so little time with those folks in that environment.
and wow jesus christ hideo kojima is a MASSIVE nerd

I love how flamingly transgender it was that Libby wants to be the main fucko’s “kid sidekick” in like an explicitly homoerotic way.
that’s my main takeaway from this movie: as a fan of Bad Transmasc Rep, it was genuinely delightful to see Page play an awful nerdy twerp so creepy & inappropriate as to nearly make Missionary Psychosis Dwight Schrute come across sympathetic.

Guinea Pig 6: Mermaid in the Manhole 1988
tragic, grotesque, and at times strangely whimsical in that goofy way you see sometimes in retro Japanese horror (director Hideshi Hino is of course one of the foremost masters of this tone in his manga as well). the sets, makeup, pacing & melodrama make it feel more like a stage production.
some of the most repulsive, gag-inducing body horror effects I've seen in my life!! the prosthetics are painstakingly detailed & feature textures straight out of my nightmares. have to recommend it based on that alone.
The Wicker Man 1973
one of the most disturbing musicals I've ever seen
