Fitting that the opening shot of the MCU is of a fleet of humvees kicking up dust across the Afghanistan desert as they transport a weapons contractor. Early drafts of Iron Man carried an anti war message, which became diluted as further drafts were censored and altered by the DoD's Entertainment Liason Office. Thus would begin the legacy of the MCU as state department propaganda from its very onset.
