Buffalo '66

Buffalo '66 ★★★★★

The greatest love story committed to celluloid.

We meet Billy frantic and searching for a release, trying to reach a destination not yet made apparent. Jump cuts keep his cuban heels stuck in the same place, unable to move past the blocked bathroom. Layla is introduced in a static shot, moving completely in rhythm, graceful in her stationary existence, making the best of the spot she's in, only removed from it by force.

One constantly moving but stuck in the same place, the other planted and spanning time.

Beautiful dialectic. Beautiful film.
