Hoop-Tober V: The Redemption
When Bruce Campbell and Robert Z'Dar unleash their chins and make a van explode it was fun.
Now that the easy jokes are done, Maniac Cop is great! For what could just be any other 80's slasher film, there's a an extra coat to everything. The murder victims each seem to have at least a little personality including the first kill fighting back competently at first. I was honestly surprised by how tightly the plot turned out even with the silly coroners stuff in the 2nd half.
And even then when the coroner gets the flashback sequence you get subtle heartbeats in the soundtrack that go along with the context of the scene and I'm loving the tiny details.
It's as filthy as it is alive and it's a well made film in general even with tiny editing issues here and there and plot ridiculousness. There's too much good here to let it get brought down.
