The Nice Guys

The Nice Guys ★★★★½

Vprento’s 2016 Movies: Best to Worst

Just look at the poster. That was enough hype for me, I instantly knew that I would love the movie. The Nice Guys had a very similar vibe to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and that's why it didn't surprise me at all when I found out that they both share the same director, Shane Black.

1977 Los Angeles has never been so much fun. The atmosphere and style of The Nice Guys is impeccable. You are very much drawn into this strange, fun universe, into an adventure you'll never forget.

Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe shine as the leads, their chemistry essentially guiding and piecing this movie together. Angourie Rice's presence as Gosling's daughter is understated. She shines in a role well beyond her years.

The murder mystery-plot is interesting enough, but these 3 actors I mentioned and their performances make this movie what it is, because if you look deeper into the story, you will find flaws. Because of this, I strongly advise you to pay attention to the jokes, one-liners and the general dialogue of the movie, somewhat ignoring the bigger picture and you will have a great experience, I assure you.
