VultureDroid’s review published on Letterboxd:
This film ruined any chance the sequel trilogy had at redemption. All the “subversions” do is cut plot threads off, having them end up going nowhere. Bad decisions are the basis of this film’s existence and yet somehow you get to watch these talented actors that have more charisma than a good chunk of the MCU actors act their heart out for a terrible screenplay. Characters like Luke are bastardized. Mark Hamill definitely knows how to act but the character he plays is not Luke. He couldn’t even be bothered to save his friends. For whatever reason, we’re told to believe Kylo is one of the strongest force users out there yet he gets beat by Rey AGAIN. We also have Luke sucking off a Walrus alien and Leia flying like Marry Poppins but you’ve probably heard those criticisms before. Luke also gets beat by Rey, despite her not getting any training. Rey is still as bland as ever and isn’t even remotely interesting. Kylo is just wasted potential. They allude to how tortured and complex he is but there’s nothing of value there.
