Watched the criterion blu ray commentary track in preparation for a rewatch with my roommates. It’s been years since I’ve last seen this movie and I was super excited to rewatch it for how much I love it. The commentary offers little insight on the filmmaking but rather focused on the folk music era of the 60s in the scene in New York and the rest of America. The commentary is great with lots of in depth knowledge but goddamn these guys are old.
“Part of the revolution of the folk era is that it represented the right to make music, the right to make music from an elite class of professionals who had musical education and knew how to write harmonies, because it was easy to make a decent sound out of a guitar.”
