Chris’s review published on Letterboxd:
Early special effects at their best. The whole sequence on the island, aside from the racist overtones, is one wonder after another. Surprised that their wasn't more of a bond between Ann Darrow and the ape, since that was what I was given to expect, but her terror seems more sincere. Also surprised at how brutal the film is, whether it be in the visuals of bodies falling into a chasm or the fight between Kong and the T-Rex. The fights in this year's Godzilla were effective, but no more so than that battle here.
Also, Kong must sneak up like a fucking ninja not to have woken that sleeping woman at the end.
