This is an extraordinarily entertaining film that is full of symbolism without smearing our face in it. It’s also nice how complicated Romero makes these characters allowing their motivation to be real. Assuming this is intended as a parable on leftist movements from the ‘60s till the yuppie movement of the ‘80s (Savini plays a clear Jerry Rubin analog) the film makes itself a powerful statement on what went wrong and how.
Too bad then that it goes on forever…
